Ok so, I’ve gotta tell you something very very big, very important, when you hear about it you’re going to be very very proud….yes I’m doing Anti - Wrinkle treatments now! YAY fanfare excitement! This is something that I’ve been looking at doing alongside lip filler treatments for AAAGGEESS and I’m so excited to now be able to offer these treatments to you.

Most people, when I mention the fact that I’m now offering these new treatments have a few similar questions so I thought I would blog about it just in case anyone wanted to refer back to anything or was feeling a bit unsure about the details.

1.What Are Anti Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-Wrinkle injections involve injecting a purified protein just below the surface of your skin which relaxes the muscles that cause fine lines through frowning etc resulting in a soft fresh look. Its likely that you’ll still have a small amount of movement so you won’t be ‘frozen’ per say just looking your best - who wouldn’t want that? Anti-Wrinkle injections push the pause button, they don’t rewind and you’ll continue aging naturally once the effects have worn off if you choose not to repeat the treatment.

2.What Product Do You Use?

Here at Moira Cosmetic Dental we use Azzalure* for our Anti-Wrinkle injections. We’re confident to use it as it has been extensively tested over a number of clinical trials, has been widely used for over 20 years and gives predictable results. We’ve always used the best available products for our dental treatments and we’re passionate about continuing these high standards for our Anti-Wrinkle products.

3. Where Can Be Treated?

The most commonly treated areas are the forehead, frown lines between the eyes and areas at either side of the eyes and we’re happy to offer treatments for these areas here at the practice.

4.How Long Until I Start Seeing Results?

Everyone is different, but you should start seeing results from day 3 to day 14 after treatment. Mostly you’ll start to feel an initial tightness around the areas that have been treated then before you know it your muscle will be relaxed and the surrounding skin will be smoother. The results are predictable and we offer review appointments after treatment to make sure you’re happy with the outcome.

5. How Long Does It Last?

Again everyone is different and this can depend on how expressive or active certain muscles are, I would say about 3-4 months although some people can get up to about 6 months.

6. Does It Hurt?

We use super fine equipment to make the process as comfortable for you as possible, where the skin is thinner some areas can be a little stingy but the treatment is generally quick and comfortable throughout.

7.When Should I Start Getting Treatment?

Again this is completely up to you but if you’re over 18 and either have no lines at rest, but some lines on movement or, fine lines at rest which deepen or become more pronounced on movement now is a great time to think about Anti-Wrinkle treatments.

8. Is Anyone Not Suitable For Treatment?

Most people are suitable for some form of Anti Wrinkle treatment although if you have a lot of deep lines at rest you might need a different type of intervention. Its always best to have some form of consultation beforehand to see what would work best for you but the most common firm no nos are:

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
If you have an allergy to eggs
If you’ve had a previous reaction to Anti-Wrinkle treatments
If you’re under 18

All medical conditions and other contraindications will be checked and fully discussed with you at your initial consultation.

9. Do I Need to do Anything Differently After My Appointment?

After Anti -Wrinkle injections there can be a little bit of down time afterwards so this might be something you get done a couple of weeks before a big event rather than the day of. My number one recommendation would be drink LOTS and lots of water and avoid alcohol as you might experience a bit of a headache after treatment. Also some Arnica cream or gel might be good if you’re prone to bruising and I would avoid applying makeup to the area directly afterwards. Some people even say it helps to eat pineapple after treatment!
